No movement on Australian private health insurance

The Australian government’s reviewed health budget has just been announced, and for those hoping for big news on the long promised private health insurance reforms may be a little disappointed.

While promising to look at “reducing the cost and improving the value of private health insurance to consumers”, the $2 million investment in a new review committee has not been met with widespread enthusiasm.

Most expats entering Australia need to provide proof of adequate health insurance either from their home country or Australia, and with cuts still some way off the former may be the better option for most expats.
